Viking seals are not latex, they are rubber. That is why they recommend using
dishsoap to clean the seals. Talc is recommend for the dusting both the seals
and the suit because it inactivates the oils that will degrade the rubber.

Viking also specifically states that you should not use silicone.
They recommend talc, which is fine when the suit is dry, but pretty
ineffective when your wrists are wet. Too bad; silicone is so easy
to use and works well. I tried using KY jelly in tiny single use
tubes. KY is pretty benign stuff and won't degrade latex.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work too well.

I wonder if a different brand of dishsoap would be easier on the
latex. I think that Dawn dishsoap is pretty gentle. I used to be
a firefighter and we used Dawn to make foam for wildfires, because
it is non toxic and biodegradable. The Viking manual recommends
dishwashing detergent (or soap) for cleaning grease or oil off the
latex.
