Attention all cave divers. 
Those of you in the good ole', U.S.A. anyway.  While we slept, cave
diving in Jackson County, has been outlawed.  No I'm not kidding.
This is a fact.   
Ordinance No. 94-06, is an ordinance amending ordinance number 94-01.
If you not familiar with 94-01, it's the one regulating the times and
dates at which diving can take place at Jackson Blue.  OK, this one
was not too bad.  94-01 that is.  They are, after all, trying to run a
park a few months out of the year.  It's not so bad, having to be out
of the water before 10:30am, or not go into the water until after
6:30pm (Central Times) between the months of May and September.  
Where they crossed the line was in enacting 94-06.  It reads as
follows:

No person shall engage in cave diving in the Blue Springs Recreational
Area, as defined in this ordinance, or elsewhere within Jackson
County, Florida, unless such person shall, prior to entry into the
water, give notice of his or her proposed diving activity (with times
of proposed entry and exit, and locations) to the Jackson County
Sheriff's Department.  The person shall simultaneously provide to the
Department any requested information regarding identity, next of kin,
and names, addresses and phone numbers of persons to contact in case
of emergency.  Further, no person shall engage in cave diving in the
Blue Springs Recreational Area, as defined in this ordinance, or
elsewhere within Jackson County, Florida, unless such person shall be
a currently-certified (PADI) cave diver and, at the time of giving the
prior notice, provide a copy of such certification to the Jackson
County Sheriff's Department.

Well now, isn't that special?  It's nice to see that PADI, is now the
recognized training agency for cave diving.  Sorry all you NSS/CDS,
and NACD instructors.  Oh yee Suckers!!  You wasted all your time and
money, when you should have been going through the PADI course of cave
diving excellence.
But, not to worry.  Just fill out all the above required forms. Send
them into the Jackson Co. Gestapo, err.. I mean Sheriff Department,
and have "your papers" with you for inspection on request.
Also remember these important words:
ACHTUNG - Attention
RASCH - Quick, Swift, Speedy
HALTEN - Stop  
URKUNDE - Document

Perhaps I dost protest too much?  Me thinkith not.  :-)
