I think the point is that outside the structured environment of the WKPP
there are a lot of divers who pay lip-service to DIR diving methods, but who
are still generally sloppy, unsafe divers. For some, DIR is just another
clique to join, a cooler-sounding Good Ole Boys club than the Usual Suspects
in North Florida.
