Subject: RE: Oxygen Clock - for 50%?

The gas makes no difference, it is the partial pressure that does. You can
tolerate pure oxygen at low partial pressures longer.

However, remember that we are underwater . That means you alter your
allowance of risk materially, and it means that you include your cumulative
exposure in your calculations of breaks.

Shorter profiles generally mean you can go out more to the 20 minutes on,
3-5 off program, or in the case of dives that have less than 20 minutes of
oxygen exposure, you can usually get by without breaking.

Keep in mind that with the standard gas mixes used in the WKPP and taught by
GUE , the last step before a switch is a low ppo2 step and is working more
like a break. I personally go to my back gas at those steps to get the full
break effect and what I call a "cleanup break" (a long break ) in
preparation for spiking the partial pressure of oxygen at the first step
with the new gas.

I then extend that step substantially. This is completely the opposite of
what any computer deco program or algorithm will tell you to do.

Are any breaks required when using 50%?
If so, same or different schedule?
thanks,
