The breaks are part of the deco. We do not add them. They are as necessary a part of the offgassing process as is the application of high ppo2's. I.E., you calculate the total deco time necessary and split it into on's and off's. The total time remains the same. You do not use the computer program to do this as it does not understand and will give you ridiculous times. You tell the computer what it wants to hear and then do it properly. The computer is just for shape of deco. You then have to go back and modify the stop times a great deal. I totally stopped using any one model for figuring deco and now use my own combination model from years of tweaking it out. You can ask anyone who has seen me do it or tested me afterwards. Things like doing 7 hours at 285-300 and then being able to deco out in 8 hours require doing things quite a bit differently than is implied by the models which would give you some 28 hours deco for that dive. The part that is so funny is that you not only come out a hell of a lot faster, you come out actually decompressed and undamaged in any way. Do it wrong, ( i.e. , the way that the agencies teach it ) , and there is no actually effective decompression. Luckily, most people who believe the agency crap do not do dives that really require much deco, or they would be hurting big time. Also , only a few of them do longer dives and those rot in the water for ever for nothing , suffer all kinds of pulmonary and oxidant damage, and do not get a clean deco. >-----Original Message----- >From: johnny christensen [mailto:johnny_chri@ho*.co*] >Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2001 8:47 AM >To: trey@ne*.co* >Cc: techdiver@aquanaut.com >Subject: RE: Oxygen Clock > > >Hi George > >When you do the gas breaks, to what extent do you count the break time >(6min) towards your deco time.
