Yes, the other way to do it (easier) if the object you are tying 
isn't too big, is to make a loop with the object in the loop.  Then 
simply tie the figure eight treating both strands as one rope. 
You'll have to pass the object through a loop when tying the knot, 
but it's a really fast knot to tie.
