Dave, 
the blue collar vs. white collar thing is indeed a genuine english one,
I believe. Nothing to do with firesquads.

I my wreckdiving classes I give a lecture on jurisdictional problems in
wreckdiving, what constitutes a wreck, civil book pf laws issues, state
laws, archeoligacal law, terms of shipping law, and all that stuff. 
So much more I appreciate your car junkyard analogy, this really saves
my day.
May be the UNESCO will put those under protection as well ?
I have dove a wreck in France which actually was being tugged to a
shipjunkyard in Liberia, when the tugging line broke in a storm ;-)
