David Doolittle suggests establishing a permanent line in wrecks like the Bass. This is, in fact a good idea, and I have talked to a couple of other divers about putting one there. The only hitch (as it were) is that wreck diving etiquette, unlike that of caving, frowns on leaving permanent lines. In fact, on commonly fished/dived wrecks there are sometimes cleanup charters with the explicit purpose of removing line from the wreck, including both lost fishing lines and divers' lines. I'm not sure how long a permanent line would last in the Bass, although the fact that it isn't frequently penetrated helps. John
