Hi! I've been reading the list for a few months and here is a late intro: I'm a 28 year old engineer with a masters degree in electronics engineering, I have also studied (some) physiology. I am an active licensed professional (military) diver with experience using open, semi-closed and closed breathing apparatus both scuba and surface supplied. I also have surface supplied hard hat license. I have no ANDI/TDI/IANDT or similar licenses.. I have been diving since 1980 and dive between 60 and 100 dives/year. Im employed as a research officer at a naval medicine lab. My work covers a very wide range of topics among them: - Testing and evaluation of rebreathers and other diving equipment. - Research on single escape from submarines ie rapid compression/decompression - Hypothermia - ... My special interest is in rebreather design and verification. The lab has experience with human hydrox diving and my boss did his thesis on liquid breathing mice.. One interesting project we have been working on the last few years is a system for improved unmanned testing of rebreathers. We have developed a metabolic simulator which allows us to simulate not only the ventilation but also the metabolism (O2 uptake, CO2 production) of a diver. Also we have been involved in the development of a heater for a surface independent diver providing heat (3-400W into the dry suit) for 1h i a 7liter/7kg backpack using catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. {ke Larsson (E-mail Lars_Larsson@In*.se*) National Defence Research Establishment Sweden Naval medicine division
