Here's one for you guys with membrane nitrox systems.

I watched a mixing session at a local dive center the other night and
something dawned on me while I was headed home.

The fill station has a membrane system to fill a nitrox bank with EAN32.

The tanks were loaded with helium from bottles, then oxygen from bottles,
and then topped with air from banks.

Wouldn't it save time and money to use EAN32 in the process?

For an END of 80ft and a bottom PPO2 of 1.1ATM, the process would be to load
helium, then top with EAN32.

For a deeper END/lower PPO2, it would be helium, then EAN32, then air.

For a shallower END/higher PPO2, it would be helium, then oxygen, then
EAN32.

For 50/50, it would be oxygen and then EAN32.

Of course you're stuck with bottles and probably a booster pump for 100%.

I have no feel for the break even point between paying for and lugging a few
more bottles and the extra care and feeding of a membrane system with a
slightly higher demand on it.
