Subject: Re: Split fins
This list really reaches for beyond ridiculous some days; however, it
would be hard to find such a varied collection of intellect, or lack there
of in many cases, with which to be entertained. Perhaps if everyone on
this list had something to contribute, and did dives that were worth
reading about, this list would not be the gem that it is.
Several people have pointed out design and performance flaws of spilt
fins for "technical" diving, remember that is what this list is supposed to
discuss, and yet many people cannot let the wounded die a peaceful
death. Some people fell it is necessary to attempt to come back w/
attempts at quick badinage and nothing more.
For your information a scooter is nothing more than a tool required for
the diving that we do. It would be impossible to for us to meet the
objectives set forth w/o scooters. The diving that we do, even w/
scooters, requires a level of fitness that most people I have meet through
this sport do not maintain, and is certainly not for "lazy" people.
If you have ever noticed they are usually called "diver propulsion
vehicles" not "diver propulsion toys because I am too ______ (add your own
descriptor i.e. fat, lazy, drunk, out of shape, etc.) to go anywhere." Now
I will grant you that there are several people in the "community" that
would not be able to ever do even a 1000' cave penetration w/o a scooter
simply because they fall into the above categories.
Is it not possible to let this discussion go the way of the albatross
and move on?
