Hoops !
mixed up left and right ! Usually this happens to my GF , when I ask her
which way to drive ;-) We are on par now!

Of course venous blood comes from the big vein to the right side of the
heart.
 The ASD allows its passage to the left, more muscular side, bypassing
the lung passage. So bubbles can be shunted this way, and the
oxygenation of the blood is hampered.
These patients can show sign of that ( colour of the skin, blueish lips,
general feeling of weakness. 
A good friend of mine suffered from this disease since her birth, she
died at the age of 42, never had been able to do any sports.
