Cokes down- the truth can be dangerous to your keyboard. Wendell, There is a rule, a "rule" mind you- not a guideline, that there can be only one moron per listserv. Apparently, Ed Street isn't aware of this and I think MJB should be pretty pissed off that some Alabama idiot is usurping his well earned crown. Many people, myself included, have asked Ed what his background is and we have been ignored. While he seems to find the time to cut and paste the going (irrelevant) party line from any source that may support his view, he hasn't found the time to introduce himself. Let me help in that regard. Ed Street- one of the ~3500 residents of Smiths, AL- a suburb of Phenix, AL (if that's possible) which is across the river from Columbus, GA. I won't go into the detail Mike Blitch (the good MJB) did (with the bad MJB) as far as posting a map to his house but I'll reveal some of his hobbies to help draw your own picture. In addition to re-inventing dive gear on a level surpassed only by the late Tony Maffatone and pretending to be a unix geek, he enjoys an occasional weekend of going to coin collector shops and conventions. His specialty is mis-stamped coins (or coins that've been hit with a hammer, run over by a train, or left overnight inside a pickle, that he thinks may be a mis-stamped). Other hobbies include discussing on another listserv the use of live aquarium food where (I swear I'm not making this up) he expressed his concern that brine shrimp may soon become endangered. His interest in carnivorous plants nicely rounds out the Little Shop of Horrors image that has painted itself in my mind. References: One guy that has met him says he almost washed out of a TDI course (This really sounds too impossible to believe but I pass it on anyway). There is a consensus among the divers I talked to that know Ed that he is a moron, best handled with a nod, a smile, and a "Gee, look at the time! Gotta go..." Maybe one day he'll realize how easy it is to make a homemade rebreather (he he he...). I suppose that Ed and MJB are the price we pay for an open listserv. If we could only get those two into an argument it would be priceless. C.
