Most recent (all I know) FFMs have an inner mask to keep dead space down. On exertion, CO2 buildup is usually not a problem, because of the increased tidal volume. Some FFMs have an integrated mouthpiece, so eevn less dead space, like in any 2nd stage. However, with this kind, it may become a nuisance to get water out. Earlier types of FFMs would definitely give you a headache because of CO2 retention. Matthias How about C02 buildup in the added space.. Particularly on the Doria..
