Jim, Sadly, it's found in the outline for the PADI Drysuit Diver Specialty course. I assume the logic is that the average diver lacks the skill and intellegence to vent air from two devices at the same time. I believe that out is actually one of the older of PADI's "standard specialty outlines" and is probably quite dated. It may relate back to a time when drysuits acutally used deflator/inflator hoses similar to those found on BCs... or at least some of them did. (I actually had one of those around here as a conversation piece at one time but I think it's long since been disposed of.) As you point out, it's much simpler and more comfortable to only inflate the suit enough to remove any squeeze and provide adequate insulation. Use the BC for buoyancy control.
