Hi Folks I just wanted to throw in an idea to see what everybody thinks.. I am looking at a situation where I don't have a re-breather mostly ecause of cost etc. The unit I am thinking about would be open circuit. It would have two tanks, one of air and one of O2. The O2 would be added realtime to the breathing mix at a fixed ratio dependant on the depth/volume. Other factors don't come into play because the gas is not being rebreathed. This would allow you to set a particular PO2 and then ride this up your various decompression stops. You could get onto it as soon as air was safe for that depth. This would save having to carry more than one nitrox mix + O2 etc. You would maby still want an O2 sensor installed just to check the addition valve wasn't stuck. Could the experts tell me how much this would reduce your deco obligation by, and wether this a viable idea.
