With a given, just a bit bigger amount of gas I would claerly prefer
doubles, as for easier reaching the valves, better trim, would like to
call it easier handling , too.

However, in travelling overseas, I do not bring my doubles.
I am content with what I get, mostly a 15l bottle.
No problem to 30 minute deco hangs withs these.
You made the claim that doubles are for safety, so please state why. 
Are bottle O-rings-, burst disks failure, valve breakage, that common ?
