I think his figures were for liquid oxygen and not air. Maybe this is the
difference?

I've always wondered how much energy is required to break up CO2 back into
C and O2. You'd then essentially be converting some other form of energy
directly to "human" energy. Your gas is then just a transfer medium. No
need for a tank! Does anyone have the numbers for this handy? Once we get
cold fusion working everyone could dive with a little reactor on their
back... until then we can just dive during lightning storms. ;-)
