Mr Street Sir,
In your esteamed knowledge, Please list and argue each point of DIR and =
why it is unsafe in comparison to what you call recreational diving =
standards.
If you are going to start a fight, then at least have the balls and the =
facts to back up what you claim.=20
General comments like "It breaks navy, NOAA, and other standards" just =
simply does not cut it. I want you to explain to me how it is unsafe and =
how other systems are better, and exactly why they are better.
I await your promt and factual reply
Chaz

Hello,
=20
to even remotely imply that i'm an 'unsafe diver' simply because I =
don't dive in one manner is insane. First almost everyone here has =
never even seen me let alone dove with me. To imply things about that =
only puts these statments into question and also the validity of the =
speaker. I would strongly urge you to stick to the facts instead of =
spreading shit that you obviously know nothing about.

Ed,=20
I sincerely hope that you are not an instructor. Your apparent lack =
of diving=20
experience and your attitude toward safety and standardization would =
be a=20
terrible thing to pass on to unsuspecting students.=20
Welll by YOUR above statment all the dir/hog setup breaks standards =
set by the recreational standards. It also breaks navy, NOAA and other =
standards to. So don't tell me not diving DIR breaks standards or how =
'unsafe' I am for not trying to kill myself with a system that has =
issues.=20
=20
I've been diving for 36 years, most of this time as an instructor, =
(YMCA,=20
PADI, NAUI, NACD, NASDS, CMAS, and IANTD) and to me, DIR is the best =
system=20
for staying alive that I have seen associated with diving or dive =
training. =20
=20
To each his/her own. Just don't bash/condone those who disagree =
with you nor like your style. Remember you can't please everyone.
I don't always agree with George (Trey) on something's, but I find =
it=20
difficult to argue with success. DIR is the most successful system =
that has=20
evolved in the diving world at this time. =20
=20
How far does this 'sucess' reach? Say if someone died then by the =
rules they are not "dir" and they are disowned. =20
=20
If it IS the most successfull then why isn't everyone jumping onthe =
bandwaggon? I'll tell you why. Because no one wants to hear their =
attitudes and egotistical approach to things. Equipment wise it maybe =
better but if everyone sees that equipment and the first thing they =
think about is how macho it is because of the actions of some people =
then how does that make it 'success'? In the business world that has a =
word for it, that word is "failure"
If you ever plan to get into advanced or technical diving, I would =
suggest=20
that you try DIR for a while and get familiar with it. From your =
post it is=20
obvious that you haven't spent any time or effort using DIR.=20
=20
Well if you did actually know what your talking about instead of =
sprouting crap about me you would know that I HAVE tried it and I didn't =
like it nor will I use it again as in my case it makes absolutely NO =
sence to use it. There is several good points that it makes and I guess =
overall it's ok but it's not a solution for all cases. If you think it =
is then your close minded.
=20
All I ask if if you are going to attempt to enlighten me then don't =
talk crap about me, don't assume anything and stick to the facts at =
hand. Afterall we all know what they say about assume.
