His little IANTD genius Garrett used to teach open water while diving the Inspiration. Maybe mouth can get on here and tell us why this is a good idea without coming off as the dyslexic, malapropic, lying idiot that he so clearly is. The Wienberg story sounds like hypoxia which made the poor guy unable to deal with simple buoyancy. The guy was a dive instructor - clearly he was impaired or he would have no problem executing this dive. Unfortunately for him ( but fortunately for diving ) he was with a complete stroke who had no clue, and watched him struggle in a hypoxic or impaired state until he either had a heart attack or screwed himself up trying to get out of the water. His stroke buddy not only never helped him or understood what the problem was and proudly admits it , she then stayed for another hour of deco on a profile that needed about five minutes total. This is why we do not let people like this near us in the water. This is why Rule Number One is so critical, and why when dealing in rebreathers of any kind, you must have a total buddy focus. IANTD's rebreather guru, Richie Pyle, who is cc'd here, is a big proponent of solo diving, and most of these rb guys are into a big macho thing about taking care of themselves. This is why so many die, including that recent death of another moron and big mouth , "Gessam", a couple of weeks ago - another guy, who like Wineberg, spent a great deal of time telling me how wrong I am and how right all of the dead people are. In fact , most of these clowns keep telling me I do not know anything about rebreathers even though I hold the worlds record for distance in a cave on them and do longer bottom times than these guys do cumulative in months of diving, and I do it at will, deco out in record time, and have yet to have a problem, and of course, I am still alive and well - soon I will not have anyone to argue with if these guys keep it up. I am so glad we do not have to tolerate of deal with any of these people or their thinking in WKPP , GUE or any diving that I personally do. Luckily there are DIR groups everywhere and none of us have to suffer mouth and his bullshit, or the results of his bullshit, or the bullshit of his hoards of "experts" who all have some fingers in the pot here. -----Original Message----- From: Sean T. Stevenson [mailto:ststev@un*.co*] Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2001 5:22 PM To: techdiver@aquanaut.com; Tom Mount Cc: Leon S; Richard Pyle Subject: Re: Reply to G and Garett acident report Tom, it seems somewhat hypocritical of you to berate George for his vocal IANTD bashing, and then proceed to attack him personally on a public forum. I would think that someone in your position would be more inclined to take the higher ground. Obviously I am mistaken. With regard to the report, I have a few questions: 1) What dive objective necessitated 300 feet for only five minutes? Were they recovering something? 2) Was the exhaust valve on Garrett's drysuit examined? 3) Was there any pre-dive indication of mental distraction? For someone with that much "experience", it seems odd that simple reactive procedures, such as disconnecting the inflator, were not followed. My impression is that the only way a runaway ascent such as that could happen is complete apathy on Garrett's part, but due to what? I also think that in-water recompression might likely have prevented his death, considering the amount of time spent on surface oxygen while waiting for the ambulance. I suspect Richard Pyle will agree. If he had enough gas, and was confident in the CCR unit, why would he choose to sit and bubble instead of taking action to prevent the onset of serious DCS symptoms? Just speculating... -Sean --Original Message Text--- From: Tom Mount Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 15:05:28 -0400 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Mount" <TOM.MOUNT@in*.at*.ne*> To: "Joseph Dituri" <dive4kix@ha*.rr*.co*>; "William J Turbeville II" <bturbo@ga*.ne*> Cc: "iantdhq" <iantdhq@ix*.ne*.co*> Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2001 12:03 PM Subject: Fw: Weinberg is dead > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Tom Mount" <TOM.MOUNT@in*.at*.ne*> > To: "Scott" <scottk@nw*.co*>; "Paul Braunbehrens" > <Bakalite@ba*.co*>; "Robert M.
