All but the most incompetent support diver would have saved his ass.. Don't let the salient issues get misdirected.. Read the report, they had no in water support team, and Garrett happened upon somebody who came by to help him.. They had no in water or topside support for a 300' dive, if that is what he was teaching then perhaps it's better he is no longer teaching... These basic and fundamental planning protocols get lost in the flames..
