This is a great corollary. Here's another one for you: You know I used to beat and zap my dog when it was a bad boy but no matter how bad the beating I gave it, it still drooled too much and shit on the carpet, being the big, dumb lard-ass that he is. So I decided to use another dog as an example. The next time he shit on the carpet I beat a stray dog just to show him what was could happen to him if he fucked up again. But all he did was get pissed off and bark a lot. Finally I came up with a method that worked. Whenever he barked too much, bit the neighbor kid or fucked up somehow I would hold up a cat and blow it's brains out with a shotgun. Well now *that* had an effect! The dog was both joyful at the cat's demise but also got painfully deafened by the noise from the shotgun going off. He is now the most obedient dog I have ever owned. And so it goes. The strange combination of joy and pain also seems to work on scuba divers, at least by my reckoning.
