Had a call from a perspective dog training client the other day. Before it was over, she became a client. She heard my name from another trainer, whom I have never met, but was bashing me and my methods---this person was one of those who believe dogs are better off euthanized than to ever have leash correction. The client then started searching me out, figured after listening to this person slam me, I must be really good---I am. She hired me, and then filed a complaint with the other trainer's dog training association, of which I too am a member, for unethical conduct. The point, that trainer may be a good trainer, but he/she lost a client because of bashing another trainer. The client would have stayed and payed that trainer except for that. I on the other hand, tell clients to go talk to 3 other dog trainers before they hire me. Never has a client failed to come back and hire me because of that. NEVER. Take it for what it's worth.
