I am Planning a Dive Expedition to the Gunilda and i need to fill 4-5 =
spots, If you don't know about this wreck it's one of the nicest in =
North America. The Gunilda is classified as a historic site and is =
protected under federal law. The Gunilda, a Luxury 225 FT yacht owned by =
Standard oil millionaire Wm Harkness. The wreck lays upright at 255 FFW =
adjacent to the wall of the shoal she hit in 1911. Due to the cold Dark =
still fresh water of lake Superior the wreck is perfectly preserved.
Quick Expedition Details,
Location: Rossport Ontario Canada, Northern Lake Superior
17 Hrs north of Ottawa CA.=20
Dates:=20
Leave for dive to Rossport on Sept 2, dive 4, 5, 6 and maybe the 7th =
depending on how people feel. Return 7 or the 8th. (3-4 dives)
Depth: Approx 250FFS,=20
Temp: Low 40s on BT and mid 50s at deco, Sept is the best time to dive =
this wreck.
Approx Costs Charter boat, $45.00 USD per day x 3-4, Hotel $25.00 USD x =
5-6, meal plans available at hotel, As you can see this is not an =
expensive trip. But it is very remote even buy Cdn standards and you =
must bring everything in spades. Argon, O2, He, Air must be planed fore =
etc. I will have gas delivered for those that need it. We have chartered =
a very experienced captain who knows the wreck and water well.
