The reason the hose is tightening up is that you are routing it too long, probably you have it too far under the pocket or something. The other possible problem is that the hose is rubbing up against another hose, and this friction causes it to not move freely when you move your head. Breathing the long hose is the way to go, it makes more sense to figure out how to do that right, than to come up with some convoluted CF. Once you get the long hose working right, it's a revelation. Kind of like the first time you bought a camera and it came with a lens cap that was attached to the strap, so you don't loose it every time you take it off.
