Not only does he stuff the long hose, but he also breathes the short
hose. He calls this the "traditional style". The training director,
Orlowski, breathes the long hose, BUT he has it on the opposite post. He
says he does this so he will know when that post rolls off. In fact he
only teaches students to check that one post since the other will not roll
off. Granted all of this may have changed and they may have finally caught
up the real world, but given the innate levels of ability they exhibit and
the amount of logical prowess that must have been present to weld a d-ring
to the waist strap buckle for "utility purposes", I doubt it.
Bailey was happy a few years ago when they realized that there were
more cave divers and cave diving instructors around the world than ever
before. He even offered to by the BOD dinner if the membership reached
some mystically elusive number that I believe was 1000. The export of BS
will continue until there is no place left for their type to dive.
It is a vicious cycle that will continue to skyrocket in this day of
instant gratification, "I have the money", and my personal favorite, one
week classes form OW to full cave with trimix taught the next week. The
caves and those that enjoy the sport will be the ones who will suffer the
consequences from such pathetic forethought and leadership.
