From the tone of your posts is seems like you have already made up your mind
to join the DIR bashing crowd. If that is the case then why don't you jump
right out and say so. On the outside chance that you really do want a straight
answer then let me put it this way.

You list several cave instructors, some of which I know to be pretty good, at
least two I know to teach nonsense. I do not feel like going through your list
to analyze every instructor in detail, but look at the question this way.

One wants to take on a hobby that could be potentially fatal if not done safely
(pick any hobby, sky diving, rock climbing, cave diving). Now to take up this
hobby one has the option to learn from a group that has the strictest standards
and best safety record in the business or to check out all the alternative
instructors, some of whom can be just as good and many that are not in hopes
that the instructor finally chosen is one that is just as good.

Seems like an easy choice to me.
