Hi: I read the current PADI and NAUI nitrox manuals, its quite comprehensive=20 and near in content to the NOAA Manual 4th Ed 2001. Minor differences were= =20 NOAA renamed its nitrox to NN32 and NN36 and have simplified tables that=20 combine the 02 clock table with their EAD tables. The PADI written exam, if properly administered, was not trivial [ 50=20 questions, 75% passing, 10+ math questions ]. I wouldn't be surprised if=20 many cheat or its dumbed down soon. I didn't see the NAUI one. PADI=20 required using all nitrox and RDP tables, EAD calculations for repetitive=20 dives on various nitrox mixes, calculate optimal mixes for depth, and=20 strong emphasis on oxtox equals pine box. Cost ~ US$150 included 2 dives,= =20 gas, & manuals. Whether nitrox certified divers ever remember nitrox theory or care about=20 it, or simply resign themselves to the care of their nitrox computer after= =20 this course is beyond anyone's control, but the curriculum, at least NAUI=20 and PADI, were well designed and executed.
