> This reminded me of when last year someone posted on techdiver about a >rebreather which contains liquid oxygen, and the (oxygen coming out of the >oxygen tank to be used) is used to chill the diver's breath until the carbon >dioxide in it comes out in a box which gradually fills with solid CO2 snow >like freezer frost which is emptied out after the dive. No absorbent needed. I would volunteer that such a device would be less practical than a chemical scrubber; the humidity exhaled by the diver would as well freeze along with the carbon dioxyde, and I'd take the chance to say that the ice volume will be greater than the carbon dioxide. Also, if for any reason, the icy scrubber would thaw, it would release the carbon dioxyde back to the diver. Of course, the water could also be collected by another stage that is just too warm for the CO2 to freeze, but you still have the problem of getting back the moisture into the breathing air (unless you have a popsicle-feed mechanism in lieu of SCUDA)... ;) --=================================================-- I don't have a sig, but I've got a WWW home page!!!
