It depends a bit on what kind of valves you're using, but for the most
part, you can occlude the hole with a shim or doubling the disk and no
one is the wiser.  Furthermore, you're safer because you don't have to
worry about burst disk failure.  But then, you didn't hear that from
me.  Plus, since I in no way claim to be an expert in submarine physics,
you'd be an idiot to listen to me anyway:)
