Ian, If we were talking about figuring this out from a cold start, you might have a point. However, calculation of diver volume is tedious at best and is to no good end. The weight of fresh water the geared up diver displaces is readily available so use it and get on with life. Body fat is not an issue since the fresh water weighting already reflects it. In other words, a lardass will need to weigh a shitload to get under in fresh water and about 1.03 shitloads to get under in seawater. :) Don ----- Original Message ----- From: Ian Puleston <ian@un*.co*> To: <TECHDIVER@AQUANAUT.COM> Sent: 05 June, 2001 18:02 Subject: RE: SALT # VS FRESH # > > It is overall weight that is the issue, not what is on the weightbelt. > > Its actually the overall volume that is the issue, not the overall weight. > If two divers are the same overall weight but one is much bigger volume > (high body fat) then he will need to add more lead going from fresh to salt > water because he is displacing more water, and it is the water that has > changed. > > Ian NetZero Platinum No Banner Ads and Unlimited Access Sign Up Today - Only $9.95 per month! http://www.netzero.net -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
