I saw a paper in "Aviation Space and Environmatal Medicine" about a year ago. This paper was about testing a decompression procedure for these spacewalks. What struck me was their rather liberal acceptance of DCS symptoms. Their limit was whan the pain etc was so hard that it affected the working performace of the astronaut. This meant that mild pain etc was ok "since the spacesuit is so uncomfortable anyway" (quoted from memory). On positve pressure breathing. I thougt that the state of the art flight suits applied a counterpressure on the chest when the pilot was force fed with O2. Maybe this is only for short periods to increase the g-tolerace. /Sten Meyer m87stme@mt*.ch*.se*
