You need to find out from a tank manufacturer.  Acid will remove rust and
minute amounts of metal, but so does tumbling.  As far an the acid itself,
it is used (very dilute) in some regulator baths.  What I don't get is why
anyone wants to use these dinosaurs in the first place.
