In this neck of the woods (Norfolk, VA area), sorting through debris fields at much less than 100 feet in about 15 foot vis is quite common. I'd really like a decent system to figure out how far off the tie-in I am. The goal is to obtain said markings without reducing the line's utility as a safety device. If the utility of the line can be improved, I'm all for it. I've used a line marked with an indelible marker. You put 1 short mark at 10 ft, 2 at 20 ft, etc up to 50 ft, which is 1 long mark. 60 ft is 1 long mark and 1 short mark, 70 is 1 long mark and 2 short marks, etc. It is useful for making rough measurements on wrecks. al -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
