Some manufacturers claim that you can use your HID lights for up to 9
hours outside the water ( thats if you got the power ) , others say that

although they produce much less heat than the halogen , they should  be
on  underwater.

If it is tue that they can work on land is there any handheld flashlight
style,
HID in the market ?

What's the truth ?
