This is not exactly news - the problems with EOs (and not just EE's) are well known, and have been documented here and elsewhere, for anyone who does their homework before buying. EOs are a necessary evil, for folks who really need them, but I think the problem is a lot of people who don't need them buy them just because they want to get all the bells and whistles when they buy their "ultimate" divelights. However, the light manufacturers might do better making people aware of this, and it does seem surprising that none of them has come up with an EO that really works. But if you think you got probelms think of the guy who posted here a while back, with a new $600 HID who let it hang for a minute during a blue water dive, and had the EO let go, sending the lighthead plummeting down into the undivable depths. > I am writing this mail to warn others not to purchase the Halcyon HID >with the E/O cable like i did.
