This is not exactly news - the problems with EOs (and not just EE's) are
well known, and have been documented here and elsewhere, for anyone who
does their homework before buying.

EOs are a necessary evil, for folks who really need them, but I think the
problem is a lot of people who don't need them buy them just because they
want to get all the bells and whistles when they buy their "ultimate"
divelights. However, the light manufacturers might do better making people
aware of this, and it does seem surprising that none of them has come up
with an EO that really works.

But if you think you got probelms think of the guy who posted here a while
back, with a new $600 HID who let it hang for a minute during a blue water
dive, and had the EO let go, sending the lighthead plummeting down into the
undivable depths.
