JT, my only suggestion before you show the tape - dub in some laughter. Then go find somebody that you will listen to who can set you straight. Some titles(for humor) and music have been added to give it features, nothing else. We chose to do this because no one, THAT'S NO ONE has had the balls to show their plan or thoughts on a extreme dive as it is happening that has not been choreographed or edited. We did this to help others who could learn from any mistakes we made and ourselves because no one has come out with any factual information on how to conduct these kinds of dives in the varying conditions they are made in. The only information to guide us on these dives are from books from those that have made some of these dives and then that info could have been altered just as emails on the list are to cover any faults of the dive. Factual information that one needs to conduct these kinds of dives are not available, so we are making one for our own use, wether others wish to use it as a guide for being the right or wrong way to do these dives I do not care, you should use it one way or the other. Which is why we taped the entire briefing at length nearly 45mins no edits to give us that"GOD LOOK" like the other tapes out there. There is also some bottom footage, but most was edited because while taking a compass reading to locate the wreck the camera light was knocked in front of the lens. There are 2 other dives on the tape "Skycliffe" 200ft and "Hydro Atlantic" 170ft, mere weenie dives, but require respect just like all deep dives. I have made wreck dives to 350fsw, 380fsw, 390fsw, 420fsw, & missed one at 490fsw and some of those have been more than just one dive to that depth without incident, other than skin bends one time. I am not the best diver out there or the most experienced, just a guy who truly loves to dive and push his own personnel limits, I consult those willing to give info and be part of any dive we do as safely as we can. The only person that has done these kinds of dives I could consult to their face is Ken Clayton, I chose to use his way as a guide for doing it wrong based on past performance and lack of leadership. The tape will be shown at the next VBTech meeting on May 3rd at Lynnhaven Dive Center at the end of our meeting which starts at 7pm. I also give Capt Leo at "Dive Shop 2" in FL permission to show the tape publicly if he wishes to do so for you guys in FL at his convenience. Just let me know privately Capt Leo and I will post your answer and yes you have the right to refuse viewing to some on a personal bases. No coping of the tape will be permitted.
