Paging Doctor Wendell Grogan, board-certified neurologist and DIR compatriot: Dr. Grogan, Denial is NOT a river in Egypt. Nice of you to post a scientific article concluding that MR imaging of divers' brains showed no difference compared to non-diving controls. But why do I sense that you have some doubts about this? Do you suppose, just maybe, there would be differences if better MR imaging were used, such as functional MRI? And do you really believe, Dr. Grogan, that there are no long-term effects in divers' brains? Why one needs only look at this list for proof that technical diving not only affects the central nervous system, it also produces mood alterations causing uncontrolled shouting, profanity, and juvenile behavior. As sure as there are scientifically documented long-term effects in diving, such as dysbaric osteonecrosis and permanent injuries from Type II DCI, there are long-term effects on the brain from diving. It's just a matter of time and technology before we see it. Let the extreme tekkies be the first to step into the MR scanner. We'll find your lesions. Cheers, MJB __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
