Hey Michael H. Kane, your name came up on a charter dive boat during my trip to the Channel Islands a couple of weeks ago. The divers on the boat, mostly spearhunters, were chuckling about MHK, the self-appointed guru of DIR tech in Southern California. I just sat and listened, and smiled. Accident- waiting-to-happen and liability nightmare came up, as did the DIR cult thing. As I looked at the Catalina hyperbaric chamber from a distance one day, I couldn't help think the macho man MHK actually has aligned himself in a good way with fundraising for the chamber. Hard to believe such a loudmouthed cultist could be doing something so contrary to his real persona. And one more thing, the ice on the pond was pretty thick last winter and the club ice dive was a bust, so you didn't miss out. I guess the 20-below windchill just wouldn't agree with anybody's equipment that day. But the big ponds, Michigan and Superior, didn't freeze, and the wreck diving continues to be good, even for the non-cultist, non-tech divers like me. You're the best, MHK. Of course you are, you're DIR. MJB <g> __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo!
