Rich Assuming you are open water, breath your stage down to a holding = pressure. Then switch to your back gas, and breath that down on "open = water thirds". Qualifying this, I would confirm my back gas is working = before breathing my stage down. I would also ensure that in planning I = consider the implications of being down longer due to the stage-carried = bottom gas and ensure that my turn point WRT back gas is appropriate to = cater for a first deco gas failure. I am familiar with carrying stages in caves where you breath = down a third and drop the bottle to be picked up on the return trip and = the second third breathed down, right?=20 Ok, what would you do in the open ocean? What would proper gas = management be for a dive requiring more gas including thirds than you = can carry on your back, within reason?
