We can recognise the stupidity of this sort of "innovation". But what about the poor slobs who've just started diving, never read techdiver, actually think dive shops/manufacturers only sell quality gear. I have been musing over the last few issues of DiveLog which has featured adds for another Mares product featuring there "Airtrim" system (some sort of push button buoyancy control replacing the standard inflator (and common sense)). The general dive community is getting a one sided (marketting driven) view. Where is the balance? Certainly not in the dive mags. Is litigation a concern? I know you (and Strike) publish regularly (or use to) in some of the local dive publications. Are they a closed shop? Is there scope to publish common sense and point out crap when you see it? What about the Editors themselves. Surely as divers of some note they can recognise a poor product. Am I being naive?
