I don't wish to portray Typhoon on a bad light, but... I bought a Typhoon drysuit back in '87, swore by it for years, then swore at it for even more years. The first problem occurred within ten dives, when one of the teeth on the shoulder zip decided to dislodge itsself when the zip was done up. After a number of hours of struggling, I finally got out of the suit! The suspect tooth had reversed it's decision and the zip looked fine. Next day, it split open from end to end at 20m. The suit was sent away, and returned with a new zip. This never gave me any problems again. Around 1989, the suit was getting regularly damp inside and I was having trouble with the boots. Another year of wet diving and after a week of getting soaked, I'd had enough. I was having to pour latex glue over the inside of the suit to make it waterproof. It was strange, the tri-laminate material seemed to have gone porous!. A phone call to typhoon with the suits serial number soon shed some light on the matter. Apparently a batch of suits were suspect, and the material had delaminated - mine included. So off it went to typhoon for the top-half of the suit to be replaced Free-Of-Charge. A month after their quoted delivery date, the suit turned up with a light-weight zip which was shorted than the previous zip. They also forgot to transfer any valves from the old suit to the new, they arrived some days later in a jiffy bag. From then on, the suit slowly deteriorated, I took to wearing a boiler suit over the drysuit to give it some protection. I was regularly fixing 5-10 holes after every trip. I replaced the suit last August, and have never looked back. I considered the new Typhoon Ranger, but past experience with Typhoon put me off. NEVER Again!
