There are some differences in opinion here. We use 50/50 up to a certain depth, then 50/50 and o2, then 35% and o2 then 190 gas, 35%, and o2 >b) Should a backup set of deco tanks be left on board and fetched by the > >support divers if ended or secured on the line at the appropriate depth >just in case ? Absolutely. We have the safety diver(s) carry the deepest deco gas on the first trip, and then when we get to 20, they get the o2. >c) Does a support diver have any responsibilities other than monitor the >dive plan , > watch gas switching , and communicate with surface ? Communication with the topside is the first priority. wetnotes work just fine underwater. >d) Is a full face availability on 6m a must on realy deep dives ? Well, we always intentionally drift. but if there are two teams, and the teams are separated, then that is *exactly* why one safety per diver (and one boat) is ultimately the safest way to go.
