I have to agree with Scott here, The average recreational diver
(translation-single aluminum 80) up here wears 25-40 lbs of weight, and
usually doesn't have enough weight to stay down on their 15' safety stop.
I've seen divers with small BC's have problems at depth here, and it wasn't
because they had too much weight.

Water temp is not the only factor affecting your buoyancy, the further north
you get from the equator the less salt content is in the water. We also have
haloclines to the max up in Hood Canal. I also suspect that the Pacific and
Atlantic oceans have different buoyancy characteristics when at the same
latitude.
