Pete - Not sure if this combination is still available, but this is the optimal solution if you go with apeks: DS-4 First stage - Environmentally sealed version of the Us-4 - Balanced Diaphragm US-4 ok for warm fresh water. T50/TX50 Second Stage - A copy of the G250 basically - good for primary For backup 2nd, I use an oceanic alpha. There are other ones out there. I like mine. For backup, its best to pick a second stage that isn't finicky, which basically rules out most scuba pro, in my opinion. Should be non adjustable, non balanced, detuned and simple. I don't like the flathead six/tx100 personally. It will work. Its not optimal. Same with Tech50 first stage.
