I found it to be a lesson in the price of crappy planning. All three of these men were clear of their wrecks, unbent, and made the decision to take their chances with the helicopter and chamber rather than drown. If Chowdhury had not continued his dive beyond the point where the gas he had IN HAND would support his deco, he would have had no problem. If the Rouses had used safety divers, they would have been fine. Deep air was a factor, but they _were_coping_ with that up to the point they couldn't find their deco gas. Chowdhury decided to look for his gas and overstayed what his back gas could support. The Rouses were trapped in their wreck and couldn't find what wouldn't have been enough gas anyway when they escaped since they overstayed what their deco gas could support. Many other things would have contributed to their safe return (trimix for instance). Planning just seems to be the biggest one. I don't intend to minimize theimportance of any of the others.
