It is interesting that it took the "good doctor" so long to share that
little gem with us here on techdiver - from February through to October (I
am assuming the US method of writing month then day in the date). 

It is interesting to reflect on the doc's words though. They are thrown back
at George as a form of insult, but for once the doc has written something
that bears some inspection.
 
	"While the concept of a single, unvarying system is sound in theory,
the main proponents 	of DIR are so verbally abusive to others, that their
	message, primarily conveyed by the internet, is lost in all the
noise"

I think that the doc is saying here that he sees that the concept of DIR is
sound but he complains about the messengers. 

	"Their inflexible gear configuration includes diving with a bottom
timer only (no 	computer), SPG (no console), Scubapro jetfins only, safety
harness consisting of a single 	strap threaded through the BC (no quick
release buckles), double tanks preferred to single
	tank, plus other limitations including no solo diving whatsoever." 

I can't see that there is anything in the second paragraph that causes me
any major problems, except that he obviously has no idea about how to thread
a backplate, or does the doc see those things as problems, maybe he does?

The opening part of the last paragraph talks about safety and while the doc
scoffs at DIR safety claims he offers no evidence to refute them and
acknowledges that the dives done are "beyond recreational limits and in
reality" at much greater risks. Interestingly enough while claiming a
greater likelihood of accidents (than likely for recreational divers) he
does not give us any indication that the likelihood has been visited upont
he proponents of DIR. Then he goes on: 

	While a few proponents of DIR are polite, and have much to offer,
the verbally abusive 	proponents, including George Irvine himself, have
tarnished DIR permanently and the system 	will likely never become
mainstream in scuba because of this.

Do I detect a more than tacit acknowledgment that DIR "has a lot to offer".
Again the complaint basically seems to be with the delivery of the message
not the content. Could it be that the doc does know better and that by
carrting on the way he does he shows us all that he definetly is what many
have claimed him to be: A STROKE - one who knows and acknowledges that there
is a better way but continues to dive contrary to that way.

Mike, I am going to take your slander up with you personally, but I will
address one thing here: you accuse me of having my girlfriend "diving mixed

Let me ask you something: did you think the men dove gas and the women dove

to find out what "steroid" you think will give me a diving advantage,

want some, and I am still wondering what my personal life as to do with you,
techdiver or diving?
