The U.S. Navy Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (coincidently in Monterey) burns lots of supercomputer time predicting swells around the world, and posts it on the web at http://www.fnmoc.navy.mil/PUBLIC/WAM/wam.html. For California, CDIP (Coastal Data Information Program), further processes that data and posts it at http://cdip.ucsd.edu/ In order to pull all this into one Monterey-specific page, I created http://www.garlic.com/~triblet/swell/wamglance.html There are pointers there to pages for the North Coast and Central Coast, and it wouldn't be difficult from someone to build pages for their own areas. Being able to stay home and mow the lawns when the surf's up has made an immeasureable improvement in the quality of my dives. However, the gophers hate it. -- Chuck Tribolet Internet: triblet@ga*.co* http://www.almaden.ibm.com/cs/people/triblet Silicon Valley: Best day job in the world. --------------718C567E969C3D8EA441D8FE-- -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
