Bob,

I looked into the trimix level 1 & 2 certifications and something jumped out
at me. The following is a direct copy and paste from the NAUITEC website:

<Copy>
PREREQUISITES FOR ENTERING THE COURSE

Minimum age of 21.
Minimum certification as a NAUI Decompression Techniques, and Technical EANx
Diver or equivalent.
Minimum of 250 logged dives 75 of which must have been deeper than 130 fsw
(40 msw) and 10 of which must have been deeper than 160 fsw (49 msw)
COURSE POLICIES

Classroom hours- 18 are estimated
Open water dives - six for level I and eight for level II
For Level I at least two dives must be deeper than 190 fsw (58 msw)
For level II the additional two dives must exceed 225 fsw (69 msw)
<End Copy>

You need to have 10 dives DEEPER than 160'. Since the diver is not certified
for using trimix of any sort yet then these dives MUST be on AIR (or a very
light EANx, but with O2 probably being narcotic, you still have the same
effective END and are playing roullette with high ppO2's as well). NAUI is
still at the "if you are lucky enough to survive at least 10 deep air dives
then we will teach you a better way". I thought the whole point was to do
away with deep air, not make it a pre-requisite for advanced training.

Don,

        All I know is that the course is available. I don't have a copy of
the standards on it, nor an outline for it. I suspect the prerequisites are

more than you guys are really looking for and that the course limits go
beyond traditional recreational diving. To my knowledge no one is offering
that type of program YET. I'd be very surprised if someone didn't introduce
something along those lines in the next few months to a year.

    For details on the NAUI Helitrox course I'd suggest emailing Tim
O'Leary.
 You can reach him via the nauitec.com website. He and Wenike put the
program together, so he'll know the specifics.
