I, for one, support the stand against commercialism within the diving community which has been expressed by some of the senior technical divers. These *money hungry* commercial operations in Canary Islands do more harm than anything else. Both the environment and the junior diver population are badly hit by these "do-whatever-for-the-buck" operators. They rent bad equipment, give diving licenses after a *single day* of "training" and abuse many critical sites for fish recruitment. And they give a damn if one attempts to inform them on the environmental abuses. This maybe a critical issue which could be addressed by DIR. cheers, aldo solari aldo.solari@ho*.se* www.ccbb.ulpgc.es/fish-ecology/solaris ___ -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
